Identify waste in inbound supply chain, develop and implement strategies to remove identified waste. Assist as needed in implementing processes to support elimination of waste as identified by others in the supply chain. Recommend strategies and implement strategies developed by others for reducing or eliminating obsolescence and slow moving inventories. Subject matter expert concerning the use and training of others on the Discontinued Item Process (DIP). Update and maintain information systems including ASCP as well as others. Develop and execute inventory stocking strategies as developed by Category Management or Materials management (Including Vendor Managed Inventory). Communicate these strategies to all internal and external customers. Develop, maintain and communicate reporting mechanisms for tracking compliance against stocking strategies and other inventory management. Request and evaluate strategies from suppliers and recommend corrective actions to drive compliance with inventory levels, obsolescence, invoicing compliance and on time deliveries, etc. Consistently looks to improve Total Cost of Ownership by collecting information, analyzing, recommending, communicating, and executing reduction in waste. Consistently grow skills and competencies by continually striving for excellence and seeking to add value. Utilize the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) as a resource to grow skills. Completion of identified modules within a timely manner. Drive integration between the category managers, suppliers and internal customers (plants) for executing the inbound supply chain. ***Specific to strategic MRO Purchasing*** With minimum assistance this person manages the timely and cost effective purchase of raw materials, packaging and MRO supplies and services required to meet Wells Dairy, Inc. production requirements. Drive continuous improvement to meet or exceed departmental and corporate goals. Responsible for negotiating, creating and executing contracts with raw material, packaging and MRO suppliers. Contractually securing raw materials and packaging within spending authority guidelines. Proactively and diligently participate in required Institute for Supply Management curriculum while applying learned skills to the continuous improvement and efficiency of WDI. Acquire the Certified Purchasing Manager or Professional in Supply Management certification in timelines outlined. With guidance develop; implement and align sourcing strategies and supplier network capabilities for spend categories to achieve broad business objectives. Responsible for securing materials at the lowest total cost of ownership through competitive analysis of bids, and all other costs of ownership. Responsible for resolving any problems with materials, delivery or the supplier relationship. Responsible for being the commercial relationship owner between WDI and suppliers. Identify, select and qualify the best. suppliers in the industry per category utilizing strategic supply base analysis. Develop and manage functional supplier relationships with assigned key/strategic suppliers to optimize financial and operational performance. Compile and maintain supplier and industry strategic analysis portfolios. With minimal assistance responsible for setting and delivering budgeted plans for all direct and indirect items identified within the scope of the role and to report monthly on performance. - Must have a college degree or equivalent work experience. - At least 3 years of full time processional experience in a purchasing environment. * Knowledge - Knowledge of purchasing and supply chain. * Skills - Must have negotiation skills, excellent computer and communication skills. * Abilities - Ability to be both assertive and customer focused, work independently and to thrive in a fast paced environment.
