Nightshift Freezer Supervisor

We have an opening for a nightshift, Freezer Supervisor. The Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day supervision of assigned teams of employees who perform specific tasks as part of the freezer operations. Responsible for communicating expectations, managing accountability and delivering desired results in the areas of safety, quality, delivery and cost.

  • Administer standards of work to ensure employees consistently, safely and effectively perform assigned tasks and responsibilities in accordance with established SOPs/Standard Work and document as required. Take ownership of the training and qualification process of all direct reports.
  • Support and maintain a continuous improvement (CI) culture across assigned work teams; serve as a leader of change.

Actively identify opportunities to optimize cost structure in the areas of materials, scheduling, labor, etc. managing daily improvement (MDI).

  • Monitor quality activities within the manufacturing processes to prevent quality failures and ensure compliance with plant manufacturing control programs (e.g., QMS) as well as company policies, food manufacturing GMPs, and relevant food safety regulations.
  • Communicate openly and effectively with assigned teams on a regular, frequent basis to ensure awareness and understanding of important information impacting the individual, team or operation.
  • Follow and enforce required safety policies, promote and acknowledge safe behavior and appropriately address safety related concerns. Foster peer to peer safety accountability.
  • Optimize labor schedules to ensure appropriate coverage in support of attainment goals and labor budget. Work proactively to minimize schedule changes and balance the needs of the operation.
  • Develop and build capability of people as individuals and teams through a variety of techniques and tools focused on motivation, teamwork, mentoring and coaching. Drive individual accountability and ownership of results.
  • Foster peer to peer accountability in the areas of safety, quality, delivery and cost.
  • Utilize and manage the necessary resources and processes across functions to achieve designated performance goals.
  • Take ownership for the results of the operation from end-to-end by working within assigned team, as well as, across shifts and cross-functionally with departments that impact the desired results of the operation.

The normal schedule will involve working mostly evenings Sunday through Thursday; hours are typically 4:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m., with rotating weekend work.

Qualified candidates must have an understanding of our frozen foods distribution process. Excellent leadership skills, flexibility, excellent communication skills, strong organizational and people skills are required.

Qualified candidates with at least 2 years supervisory experience and a college degree is preferred.

The pay grade for this position is 33 and the incentive band is B.

NICP Operations Manager Nights

We currently have an openings for an Operations Manager (Nights) at the North Ice Cream Plant in Le Mars, Iowa. This individual reports to the Plant Manager and Oversees day-to-day execution of manufacturing activities in accordance with relevant food safety and sanitary legislation (FDA, etc.). Drives alignment of production strategies, goals and objectives with day-to-day activities in the areas of quality, safety, delivery and cost.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Manages day-to-day execution of production performance in the areas of safety, quality, cost and delivery and adherence to food safety and quality requirements.
  • Ensures execution of standards of work to ensure process compliance throughout the production functions.
  • Develop and build capability of people as individuals and teams through a variety of techniques and tools focused on motivation, teamwork, mentoring and coaching.
  • Supports and maintains a continuous improvement (CI) culture across assigned work teams; serves as a leader of change across the function.
  • Manages and executes labor and production schedules and plans to ensure appropriate coverage in support of attainment goals. Actively seeks opportunities to optimize cost structure in the areas of materials, scheduling, labor, etc.
  • Support the execution of New Production Development, capital projects and other initiatives at the production phase.
  • Coordinates all aspects of production activities with a focus on effective and efficient start-up of equipment.

In addition to the responsibilities listed above, other duties may be assigned by your manager as dictated by business necessity.

Qualified applicants must possess Bachelor¿s degree in related field or commensurate experience. Minimum of (5) five years experience in a in a medical product, food or nutritional product manufacturing setting. Previous experience in an FDA / USDA regulated industry. Candidates should also have demonstrated supervisory or management experience, as well as, strong knowledge of production and sanitation policies, practices and systems.

The pay grade for this position is 37 and the incentive band is C.
