Category Development Manager II

We have an open position for a Category Development Manager II in Bentonville, AR. The candidate will work with our current Category Management team and customer, Walmart, as a Category Advisor/Validator, leading development of detailed analytics and insights designed to maximize category growth. This candidate will proactively develop customer relationships and lead the respective sales organization in "best practices" regarding customer category development.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leads development of actionable category insights and provide recommendations to Walmart that can significantly grow category sales.
  • Supports both the Packaged Ice Cream and the Frozen Novelties category in achieving total category Business Plan goals by leading the development of category reviews, managing planogram creation and execution and supporting all other category development functions.
  • Recognized as field-level customer expert. Work with Customer Insights team to identify key customer decision makers, strategies, company facts, history and other relevant information, using knowledge to support business recommendations.
  • Trains and mentors internal Wells┬┐ Dairy category analysts and insight teams in interpretation and usage of insights and analysis. Through education and consistent reinforcement is able to build category development skills of sales partners to a level of "best-in-class" customer business partners.
  • Manages multiple customer needs and prioritizes work according to best return of effort to the organization. Proactively partners with Walmart to strengthen business relationships and assists in establishing Wells' as their leading category consultants.
  • Skillfully levers multiple data sources and insights when building plans and recommendations. Incorporates direct customer input; uses pricing and promotional analysis, marketing, logistics and supply chain data in business recommendations when relevant.

Qualified Candidates should have the following:

  • College degree preferred.
  • Certifications in Category Management/Development.
  • Firsthand experience working with Walmart, with specific experience working as a category advisor and/or validator in Bentonville, Arkansas.
  • Proficient and effective in Retail Link, as well as third party data warehousers.
  • Knowledge of Shiloh systems is a significant advantage.
  • 7+ years of first-hand experience in category management/development and proven history of working directly with customers.
  • Experience in planogram development, both practical software applications as well as assortment strategy.
  • Knowledge of Category Management Principles and Terminology near expert level.
  • Knows how to use different software applications for planogram development and analytics.
  • Ability to use syndicated data (IRI/Nielsen) to assist in business analytics.

Associate Manager, Marketing Research

Wells Enterprises, Inc. has an opening for an Associate Manager, Marketing Research at our Corporate Headquarters in Le Mars, Iowa. This Associate Manager position will deliver against our "Consumer is Boss" focus and the resulting additional insight initiatives across our business. This position will enable the Marketing Research team to continue building additional internal research capabilities to cost efficiently and proactively address NPD, business innovation and information needs.

Primary responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Designs and coordinates research projects related to NPD, packaging, advertising, brand and business innovation. Analyzes, interprets, summarizes and provides recommendations from the research data and insights to assist product and business decision-making.
  • Manages and leverages the internal consumer-based survey resources to cost efficiently seek value-added insights.
  • Assists in guiding the NPD process through converting insight and learning into actionable strategies and tactics. Manages on-going and new tracker studies, evolving the analyses and insight generation to business situations and providing recommendations.
  • Works with non-traditional internal and sometimes external clients to develop, execute and provide insights and recommendations to requests for research assistance.
  • Develops, strengthens and leverages new and preferred vendor relationships.
  • Assists the Director of Marketing Research and Manager of Sensory with strategic focused research initiatives.
  • Other duties may be assigned by your supervisor, as dictated by business necessity.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a closely related field.
  • MBA is preferred, particularly with a non-marketing undergrad.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of Market Research experience in a B2C company.
  • Passion for researching consumer understanding/insights is critical.
  • Qualitative and Quantitative project management experience in CPG or consumable goods industry with a consumer recognized brand.
  • Experience working in an insight driven-innovation based NPD company culture with a background in utilizing a diverse array of research methodologies, tools and techniques.
  • Experience in working with Nielsen/syndicated data and online community development/management is a plus.
